Helius Just Locked Up 75% of Serra Pelada — One of the Great Gold-PGM Districts

Helius Minerals (TSXV: HHH) just put its name on a piece of mining legend.

Helius formally exercised its option to acquire the quotas controlling a 75% interest in Serra Pelada Companhia de Desenvolvimento Mineral — the vehicle holding mining rights to the Serra Pelada Gold-PGM project in Pará State, Brazil. Closing is targeted no later than July 31, 2026.

The upside case rides on the name. Serra Pelada ranks as one of South America's highest-grade historical gold-PGM districts, and Helius is stepping into 75% control of it. The exercise also flips a financial switch: it triggered the release of escrowed proceeds from an earlier C$40 million brokered private placement, putting real money behind the company just as it takes the reins. Control of a marquee, high-grade district plus freshly unlocked capital is exactly the combination that gets a project moving.

The bear case: "historical" and "high-grade" describe the past — Helius still has to close the deal and prove modern economics on ground famous for its geology, not its permitting.

A storied district, 75% in hand, and the cash to work it.
