Marimaca's Step-Out Hit 6% Copper — and Opened a New Vector
Marimaca Copper (TSX: MARI; ASX: MC2) just extended a high-grade copper zone and opened an entirely new vector in the same batch of drilling. Both matter with copper at record prices.
Marimaca is chasing a district-scale copper-silver thesis at Pampa Medina in Antofagasta, Chile. Step-out hole SPRD-07 returned 6m of 6.11% Cu and 24.0 g/t Ag within a broader 20m of 2.65% Cu, pushing the high-grade bornite zone 300 metres south of prior drilling. That is a meaningful extension of the payload zone.
The upside case gets more interesting with SPRD-08B, which intersected copper-silver mineralization in basement metasediments for the first time — a new depth vector that hints the system runs deeper than mapped. Layer that onto an oxide-sulphide district thesis and a record copper price, and the growth story has room to run.
The bear case: this is still early step-out drilling, and a district-scale idea has to be proven hole by hole before it becomes a resource.
High grade, a fresh vector, and a strong copper tape. Marimaca stays on the watchlist.
