Wescan Goldfields Pulls 67.1 g/t Au Over 1.00m From 2013 Core at Munro Lake — 305 Samples Now at AGAT, Phase 1 Drill Permit Active
Hole EXML-002 returned 67.1 g/t gold over 1.00 metre. Hole EXML-001 returned 7.1 g/t gold over 1.02 metres. Both holes dated to a 2013 campaign at Wescan Goldfields' (TSX-V: WGF) Munro Lake Project in northern Saskatchewan — and both had been only sparsely sampled at the time, according to the company's August 14, 2026 news release on Newswire.
The resampling program ran from July 22 to August 11, 2026. Wescan's technical team relogged and systematically resampled both holes from top to bottom, pulling 305 samples from core stored at the company's Jasper Mine site. Those 305 samples are now at AGAT Laboratories, with results pending.
The team found multiple intervals of quartz veining in both holes that had not been previously sampled, alongside sulphide and diopside-bearing calc-silicate alteration. Per the August 14, 2026 release, that alteration assemblage is associated with gold mineralization at the nearby Seabee and Santoy mines operated by SSR Mining Inc. — the same structural corridor Wescan is working in.
Munro Lake sits approximately 7 kilometres northeast of SSR Mining's Seabee mine and mill complex, the province's only producing gold operation. Historical surface grab samples across the project have returned values up to 38 g/t gold across a prospective strike length of approximately 7 kilometres spanning three principal mineralized areas.
The drill permit arrived first. Wescan received it on July 8, 2026, authorizing exploration at Munro Lake for a period of three years, per the Yahoo Finance news release. Phase 1 of the 2026 exploration program is planned to include up to 2,000 metres of diamond drilling. As of August 27, 2026, the company reported camp mobilization underway and drilling expected to commence shortly thereafter, per the IRW Press release. Phase 1 drilling is planned to follow up high-grade gold intercepts from the 2013 drill program in the southeast zone.
Two additional historical holes remain. Wescan plans to fully sample them after the 2026 drilling campaign.
The company holds 100% interests in four Saskatchewan gold projects: Munro Lake, Jojay Lake, Fork Lake (which hosts the past-producing Jasper gold mine), and the recently acquired Lindsey Lake Project. The Jasper mine was operated by Cameco Corp. in the early 1990s and produced approximately 155,000 tons at a grade of approximately 18.5 g/t gold before closure, per the company's project disclosures. The Jojay gold deposit carries a 2010 NI 43-101 resource estimate from A.C.A. Howe International Limited: an Indicated Resource of 420,000 tonnes grading 3.7 g/t gold and an Inferred Resource of 630,000 tonnes grading 4.3 g/t gold, both at a 2.0 g/t gold cut-off.
On the macro backdrop: gold December futures opened at $4,448 per troy ounce on September 10, 2026, down 0.3% on the session. The S&P/TSX Venture Composite closed at 959.64 on September 8, 2026, off 0.60%. WGF's most recently available quote on the company's news page was $0.21 as of April 30, 2026; current capitalization and cash position are not available from accessible filings.
What is immediately next: AGAT Laboratories results on 305 resampled intervals, Phase 1 drilling of up to 2,000 metres commencing at Munro Lake, and resampling of the two remaining historical holes scheduled post-drill.
